STATE SECURITY GROUP

The State Security Group (SSG) is a specialized protective agency operating under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs. It was established in 2001, shortly after Fitzland secured international recognition as a sovereign state and Rodolfo Lockhart was appointed as the nation’s first Prime Minister. The formation of the SSG was deemed essential to safeguard the Prime Minister, cabinet members, and their immediate families, ensuring the stability and continuity of Fitzland’s young government.

The need for the SSG became particularly urgent during the early years of Fitzland’s independence, as threats emerged from LRay Villafuerte’s attempted coup to overthrow the newly formed government. These threats were not confined to Fitzland itself but were also planned overseas, specifically in the Philippines, adding an external dimension to the crisis. During this turbulent period, the SSG played a decisive role in protecting Fitzland’s leaders and their families, standing as a critical line of defense against both domestic and foreign-backed instability. Their vigilance and effectiveness were instrumental in helping the legitimate government regain control and restore order after the coup attempt.

Today, the State Security Group continues to serve as Fitzland’s premier protective agency. Its primary responsibility is the close protection of the Prime Minister, both at home and during official travel abroad, as well as safeguarding the Prime Minister’s family and other high-ranking national leaders. Additionally, the SSG is tasked with providing security detail for visiting diplomats and foreign dignitaries, reflecting Fitzland’s commitment to both national security and international cooperation.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING

Members of the State Security Group (SSG) are drawn from the most capable personnel within the Fitzland Police Force and Armed Forces, undergoing a rigorous selection process that emphasizes physical fitness, psychological resilience, and tactical expertise. Only a small percentage of candidates pass the demanding entry requirements, making the unit highly elite and selective.

Training is comprehensive and continuous, covering close-quarters combat, advanced firearms proficiency, defensive driving, counter-surveillance, and crisis response scenarios. Agents also undergo specialized instruction in medical response, negotiation techniques, and crowd control to prepare for a wide spectrum of threats.

To maintain world-class standards, the SSG regularly participates in joint exercises and exchange programs with allied nations’ protective services, such as the U.S. Secret Service, U.K.’s Specialist Protection Command, and regional partners. This international cooperation ensures that Fitzland’s protective details remain adaptive to evolving threats, equipped with the latest tactics and technologies for safeguarding national leaders.

WEAPONS

The State Security Group shares the same standard weapons inventory as the Republic of Fitzland Armed Forces and the Fitzland Police Force, ensuring interoperability and familiarity across branches. However, certain weapons are customized or selected specifically for close protection duties, adapting to the mission profile and security environment surrounding the Prime Minister and other high-value individuals.

UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT

The State Security Group (SSG) maintains two primary categories of attire: formal duty wear and tactical gear. For official functions, ceremonies, and diplomatic events, SSG agents wear tailored black suits with concealed armor and discreet communication earpieces, ensuring both professionalism and protection.

During operational or high-risk assignments, agents transition to tactical uniforms resembling those of special operations forces. These include ballistic helmets, plate carriers, and modular load-bearing vests designed to carry weapons, communication devices, and medical kits. Agents are also equipped with encrypted radios, surveillance equipment, and advanced counter-surveillance tools to ensure constant situational awareness.

To adapt to a variety of scenarios, the SSG employs an array of protective gear, including armored shields for motorcade dismounts and breaching operations, as well as night-vision and thermal optics for low-light missions. Their equipment is standardized to ensure compatibility with the Fitzland Armed Forces and Police Force but tailored to meet the demands of close protection and high-security environments.

Land Travel

For land transport, the Prime Minister primarily uses the BMW 750Li as the official state vehicle, accompanied by Fitzland Police Force Protective Security Land Units for escort and perimeter security. Diplomats and visiting foreign dignitaries are typically assigned armored Chevrolet Suburbans, also escorted by Protective Security Land Units to ensure safe and secure passage across Fitzland.

Sea Travel

When traveling by sea, particularly for visits to Fitzland’s smaller islands, the Prime Minister is transported and secured by the Fitzland Coast Guard. Depending on the situation or urgency, he may alternatively utilize the Airbus Helicopters H225M for direct access to coastal or island destinations.

Air Travel

For international travel, the Prime Minister and his delegation usually fly via commercial Fitz Airlines as part of the nation’s cost-conscious and modest political culture. This practice reflects Fitzland’s values of practicality and humility in governance, minimizing unnecessary expenditure.

The Prime Minister’s dedicated Cessna Citation X is employed only when visiting two or more countries consecutively, when heightened privacy and security are essential, or when special requirements demand it. In cases of high-risk destinations or significant security concerns, the Prime Minister, delegates, and protective detail instead travel aboard chartered Republic of Fitzland Air Force aircraft, such as the C-17 Globemaster or C-130 Hercules, to ensure maximum protection and logistical support.
